I was tagged by PrinceFleabitten to write eight facts about my OC Damir. What makes this interesting for me is that I don't know WHICH Damir I should speak about - the Original Damir, or the Dragon Age universe Damir, who are the same character, but have very different stories. I guess I'll talk about stuff that is universal to all incarnations of him, and specify if there's something about said fact in a certain universe that is more relevant (original universe being 'Stolen Focus', and the other one being Dragon Age). :D

Rules:
1. Post 8 facts about your character
2. Tag 8 other characters
3. Post their names and their creators avatars

Oukkidouk, so Damir, facts silly and less so!

Flower Crown For Damir by IdaHarraDamir's endgame by IdaHarra Damir by IdaHarraWRONG by IdaHarra

  1. Damir has a fear of blood, and of heights (more specifically, falling from high places). He isn't afraid to admit that it is so (even though he otherwise likes to maintain this cool & touch alleycat air), but will get hissy if he is teased about it. In the Dragon Age universe, he is accused of being too interested in blood magic to be allowed to go through his Harrowing (and is made Tranquil), when in truth he could never have been a blood mage because of his fear of blood. In his original appearance, his fear of blood makes it difficult for him to face his boyfriend's injuries, and his own poisoning.
  2. Damir has an aversion to lies - he tends not to lie, and especially in his original appearance he does not lie at all. This doesn't however mean that he will just spurt out any truth willy-nilly: he can mislead, and obscure the truth, he just doesn't outright lie. This is because in Stolen Focus he was born a Truth-Teller, a person with a very rare semi-magical ability to tell when people are lying. Not necessarily what the lie is about, but he can tell anyway. This requires him to not lie himself, though, as the ability fades the more the Truth-Teller speaks lies (knowingly). No such gift had befallen him in Dragon Age, he just finds lying doesn't suit him.
  3. Damir is not actively religious, but IS very interested in theology. As he says in Stolen Focus:
“I enjoy the theological discussion of the Patrons, but I am not a devout man, no. My interest is mostly academic, if you like. And aesthetic, obviously. And the routine? Well, it certainly helps. Especially lately…” His Patron in Stolen Focus is the Serpent, the goddess of Secrets.
  4. Damir is left-handed.
  5. Damir is vain, and doesn't bother denying it. Dressing well, and keeping his hair and eyeliner in place is important to him both because he likes to look good, and because he enjoys the routine. He particularly likes to dress in yellow and wear gold jewelry, but any bright and striking colors work as well.
  6. Damir has restless feet - he is by occupation & strictly speaking a scholar and loves libraries and archives and Cathedrals / Chantries, but likes to head out and explore his surroundings, slinking his way (in more discreet clothing) from the glory of the rich neighborhoods down all the way to the shadier parts of town, and tends to know his home town down to every alley. In truth he tends to prefer the shadier parts of town to the rich areas.
  7. Damir rolls around in his sleep, and it's not uncommon of him to fall out of bed because of it. Much to the dismay of anyone who actually tries to sleep next to him. Thankfully he can be cuddled into stillness. ^u^
  8. Damir loves mango ice cream and spicy mint tea, and is allergic to seafood (but not FISH, thankfully - he would be forced to a pretty limited diet if that were so in Stolen Focus, living in a prominent port town...)
Iiiii don't honestly know who to tag? I'm not very connected on DeviantArt. ;u; Just anyone who reads this and wants to blabber about their brainchildren, tell everyone I tagged you? :D

I got tagged in a thing by WritterInTheArtHat , and while I'm answering the questions I'm being a poor player and otherwise ignoring the rules (I'm firmly againt rules that say you HAVE to follow them in for-fun things lmao). xD SORRY not sorry!

1. What's your favourite fandom?

Hm, I only really participate in the Dragon Age fandom myself, and don't actively follow many others, so I guess the Dragon Age fandom...? There are parts of it that I don't enjoy but I'm actively making sure I don't SEE that part of the fandom much and fandom is what you make of it, so. ^u^

2. Who is your OTP? (One true pairing)

Hawke x Anders (DA2), and nobody is surprised. Also Anders x happiness in general. ^u^

3. Do you prefer writing or drawing?

Drawing, by a wide margin. I enjoy both, but I'm far more comfident in what I can do in drawing compared to what I can do in writing, and more confident in doing it in less quality in public than writing poorly and showing that to other people, which to me is a definite marker of being more at home with drawing. :) I used to like writing more, but that changed at some point.

4. Who is your favourite youtuber? What do they do?

I don't regularly follow & watch many youtubers, but I frequently watch Markiplier, particularly the playthroughs of some scarier games. I also enjoy Peter Hollens' work a lot (a capella), and Malukah (same), and Miracle of Sound (fannish metal music!). :)

5. What is your dream job?

I'd like to be able to do something with my art - whether this would be in the game industry or somewhere else, I don't know, but SOMETHING to do with painting as much as my little heart and head can take would be great! :) Also I'd like to continue teaching in circus for as long as that's possible.

6. When was the last time you cleaned your room?

TOO LONG AGO.

7. What book did you read last?

Terry Pratchett's "Thud!", though not completely, because a newer Pratchett book ("Raising steam") came along, but I got close enough to the end for it to count, and I know how it ends anyway, this being my tenth reading of it or so. xD Fantasy, humor, satire, and most importantly, Mister Vimes, who is DEFINITELY one of my favorite characters ever.

8. What is your most precious object of nerd junk?

Hum erm erm what DO I own that might be classified as nerd junk...?

9. Are you married/dating anyone?

Nope! ^u^

10. Do you have a second language?

English is my second language! ^u^My mother tongue is Finnish. I've been learning English since I was six years old.

11. Do you read comics?

Not really? I'll read the occasional Donald Duck, and I love Neil Gaiman's Sandman graphic novels, if those count! :D I'm really bummed that I lost my copy of whichever I used to own booo! Other than that? Not really!

12. What is your theme song?

Don't have one! I don't think in songs at all, so this kind of questions mainly make me go ??? xD

13. Are you doing this instead of something important like chores or homework?

Nope! It's almost 9pm and I just came back from a visit to my parents in another part of the country so it's officially Relaxing Time! 8) I have chocolate and everything!

Hey since I was asked! :D IF you ever have any questions about my OCs or stuff, just shoot. :) I'm not hosting a proper event or anything, just shoot. I love talking about my babies, and will answer with scribbles and painting when possible! :D

SCRIPT WRITING is fun. :D

I always get ideas for comic books or graphic novels, but after drawing three or four pages, I lose the momentum, and the project dies. Same happens with all kinds of things, but with comic books it's particularly annoying because then it's not the matter of losing momentum as such, but more like being tired of drawing, wearing oneself out. I work much better in spurts than in marathon.

It never occurred to me that while I may or may not be incapable of DRAWING a comic, I could try my hand at writing one. I got CeltX (a good, free script writing tool) for an assignment (writing a scene for a tv show) and it's been sitting unused ever since, and just yesterday it hit me. Why on Earth do I not WRITE A SCRIPT if I can't put the story into prose form, and can't draw it?

I think I've written about 15 script pages since then. And it's been brilliant. I have visuals twirling in my head. Pretty pictures in a style that reminds me of Marvel and Modesty Blaise, and a new-ish Tex Willer I read a couple of years back. I think it was a Tex Willer anyway. I can never pull that off if and when I decide to start working on the actual comic, working from the script you know, but that doesn't matter. As long as the pictures float around in my head, I'm happy. I like writing what I see without worrying about the language and syntax and that kind of things. xD No one else needs to see the script! :D

I'm writing about an angel and a demon who start investigating why the angel now carries a child of a human and a demon, because she is neither, obviously. They run around my home town (masked into someplace else) and the general whereabouts, hire a folklore specialist and a shaman guy to help them, and explore Finnish mythology, general demonology and religion, and their own troubled pasts. Someone's going to kill me for blasphemy, but people have written worse things. :D Just look at Supernatural.

As my followers will have noticed, I resurrected the Dwarf Art Project almost after a year of not updating! This is of course because of the approaching premiere (the UK premiere, that is, because it's here that I'll see the movie, in 3D no less - the mere thought terrifies me already, because I get simulation sickness easily...)! I'm all hyped about the movie again and really happy that it's finally almost here! What better use of time before the movie to paint some dwarves! (Well, homework. But homework isn't as fun.)

I can't decide which dwarf I want to paint next. I have painted (or drawn) Fili, Bofur, Thorin, Ori, Dori and Nori. And Dwalin, mustn't forget Dwalin! So I'm letting anyone who comments decide. Kind of a poll, only not really because there are not links to click on. So should it be...

... Kili?
... Oin?
... Gloin?
... Balin?
... Bifur?
... or Bombur?

(I don't have to have a list anymore, I remember them all yay. <3 I think that's going to be helpful in the cinema! While everyone else is trying to remember who is who, I can just sit back and enjoy.^^) Any suggestions will be helpful! I don't know when I'll be actually painting the picture, though. Probably before the 15th, which is when I'm going to see the movie. :3
